Leila Sbaiti mixes wheel throwing, with hand- building, slabs, and coils in her recent work. She’s often trying to push the clay to its limit by enlarging the size of her pieces, always trying to defy gravity. Her designs begin with an idea in mind, until the clay moulded by her hands takes her onto a new trajectory. In 1982, Leila Sbaiti graduated with a BA Economics from the American University of Beirut (AUB), followed by a Master of Business Administration from the Lebanese American University (LAU) in 1985. In 1989, she received a BA in painting from the Lebanese University (LU). She has dedicated herself to her art of pottery since 2006.
